In the first half of 2018, many film and TV programs featuring “little fresh meat,” a buzzword in China to describe young and handsome male celebrities, were less sought after than before. Some improper remarks and behavior by these young celebrities on reality shows even generated controversies for breaking social values and norms. Over the years, the fan economy driven by these young stars has constituted an important part of the show business economy and the entertainment industry. Nowadays, however, the market has become increasingly reasonable, reflecting the transition from mass consumption to the return of rationality.
