Cows Force-fed Water

Police recently clamped down on several slaughterhouses in Anhui Province for increasing the weight of cows before slaughter by force-feeding them water. A posted video clip showed cows in pain as water was forced into their stomachs through tubes inserted in their snouts. According to media reports, cattle were injected with up to 60 liters of water within 12 hours, causing some to kneel down in pain. Many on social media said they could not bear to watch the video. They have condemned the sellers involved for prioritizing profit over humanity and appealed for authorities to issue China’s long-awaited animal protection laws as soon as possible.
