Husband Murders Wife for Life Insurance

Police detained a Chinese man in Thailand after he allegedly killed his wife to collect millions in life insurance policies. According to reports, Zhang Yifan is accused of drowning his wife in a hotel swimming pool while they vacationed on the island of Phuket. Zhang initially told police his wife died by accident, but police found she had suspicious injuries. An investigation later revealed that just before their trip, Zhang had taken out life insurance policies on his wife valued at more than US$3 million. Netizens voiced their outrage and called for Zhang’s extradition to stand trial in China, where he would face the death penalty.
