A Polish company has made dinner plates from wheat bran. When conditions are normal, it takes them a month to biodegrade, but if the weather is rainy, it may only take two weeks. Although it costs more to buy this kind of tableware compared to single-use plastic, the environmental cost is much lower, the Xinhua News Agency reported.
Pan Fan, a commentator for the Beijing Youth Daily, wrote that this kind of product is undoubtedly beneficial to the environment, and he predicted a good future for the company, with its products expected to be popular in urban areas where people rely on takeouts and food deliveries, which often come with single-use plastic plates and cutlery, often referred to as China's "tide of white waste."
China’s economy is facing increasing external risks and uncertainties. Products that are suited to new consumer trends can help expand the market and ensure economic stability, Pan said.
Those that succeed in these new areas will be able to capture significant market share, Pan added.
