TCM Centers for Epidemic Prevention

China will set up traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) centers to prevent epidemics during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025), said Jiang Jian, an official from the National Administration of TCM.

China will set up traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) centers to prevent epidemics during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025), said Jiang Jian, an official from the National Administration of TCM.  

The news was released at a press conference by the State Council where Sun Zhicheng, an official from the National Development and Reform Commission said his department plans to improve TCM’s legacy and innovation by launching TCM-related projects and exploring specialized treatment and combining it with Western medicine.  

According to Sun, the TCM centers will train professionals, design technical schemes for epidemic prevention and make breakthroughs in TCM drugs.  

According to Chinese media reports, TCM made a big contribution to controlling the Covid-19 pandemic and treating infected patients, especially those with mild symptoms.
