By NewsChina Updated Mar.1

According to the 2020 Chinese Online Literature Blue Paper released by the China Writers Association, writers signed contracts for roughly 2 million literature works with online platforms in 2020, with more than 60 percent involving realistic content, including anti-pandemic and poverty reduction, in addition to fantasy and kung fu novels. China has some 460 million online literature readers including 7.58 million daily active users. Online writers kicked off the widespread trend of mass literature, which changed the landscape of literary creation. Over the past 20 years, it has influenced movies, online games and animation, which also created a huge fan base overseas. By 2020, more than 10,000 online literary works were available overseas, attracting over 100 million foreign readers. Online literature has become a new form to tell Chinese stories and help people learn more about Chinese culture.
