Nurses Hired Through Apps May Not Be Qualified

Many student nurses offer services through medical apps, which also divert qualified staff away from working at hospitals

As the sharing economy continues to grow, the model is being expanded to other sectors of the economy. According to recent news reports, apps where people can hire nursing staff have become popular, with some 20 smartphone medical apps providing the service, news portal the Guangming Daily reported.
The service, which provides nurses to go to people's homes, can help optimize nursing resources, and is a move away from traditional nursing services. But the model is new, and challenges are inevitable.

Some of the nurses are still students and are not qualified enough. If patients have bad emergencies or other side effects, these inexperienced nurses may not be able to provide the proper treatment.

In addition, nurses for hospitals are already in short supply, and if these apps further divert nursing staff away from hospitals, both sectors will suffer. As well, even qualified nurses cannot take the place of doctors, so the treatment they can provide will not be as good.
