Strategies of Video Game Makers to Win Popularity

After being suspended in August 2021, the resumption in licensing for new video games in China in March 2022 has revitalized the industry, which would have been otherwise challenged and restructured. Tencent Games and NetEase Games, the country’s two leading game studios, remain on top. But smaller game producers were not lucky enough to avoid declines in profits and revenues. When times are normal, game studios focus more on research and development. More creative, exquisite and well-tailored designs with global perspectives are encouraged. However, language, channels, compliance with local laws and cultural disparities remain barriers for Chinese video games to go global.
