The sixth Qingdao Multinationals Summit was held in Qingdao, Shandong Province from June 18 to 20.

A total of 557 representatives from 43 countries and regions attended the summit, which was launched by China’s Ministry of Commerce in cooperation with Shandong provincial government in 2019 to help cross-border companies better understand and invest in China.

Themed “connecting to the world and win-win cooperation,” this year’s summit offered a forum on high-quality development alongside other events and activities, during which new policies were explained and analyzed and potential cooperation was discussed. Important issues like overseas investment, the silver economy and the low-altitude economy were discussed in dedicated forums.

At a press conference, an official from the Ministry of Commerce said the sixth summit was characterized as “being new,” with about one-fifth of representatives attending for the first time. Emerging sectors such as modern finance and AI were the focus. The summit also saw an increase in the number of participants from emerging markets in the Middle East, ASEAN and Africa.

The previous five summits, according to official data, attracted altogether 421 World Fortune 500 companies and 967 industry leaders.
