Reception Celebrating 2026 Spring Festival and Tibetan New Year Held in Zurich

The Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Zurich and for the Principality of Liechtenstein hosted a reception in Zurich on the evening of February 3 to celebrate the upcoming 2026 Spring Festival and Tibetan New Year.

The Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Zurich and for the Principality of Liechtenstein hosted a reception in Zurich on the evening of February 3 to celebrate the upcoming 2026 Spring Festival and Tibetan New Year. The event was attended by representatives from various sectors of Switzerland and Liechtenstein, members of the Chinese community, Chinese students, and representatives from Chinese enterprises. 
 
In her remarks, Consular General Chen Yun extended festive greetings to all guests and reviewed China’s remarkable achievements over the past year. She noted that the historic accomplishments of Chinese-style modernization were realized through the perseverance and tireless efforts of the Chinese people of all ethnic groups under the leadership of the Communist Party of China. The progress achieved by China, she added, is a source of pride shared by Chinese people both at home and abroad. 
 
Consular General Chen expressed heartfelt appreciation to overseas Chinese in Switzerland and Liechtenstein for their long-standing support of the development of their motherland, adding that China’s sustained growth and prosperity will continue to inspire greater pride and confidence among Chinese communities worldwide. 
 
The reception featured captivating performances by the Xiangxiong Art Troupe from Ngari Prefecture in Xizang, earning warm applause from the audience. An exhibition of Chinese intangible cultural heritage was also presented, showcasing artifacts such as Tibetan medicine, Tibetan opera figurines, prayer wheels, Miao embroidery, Qinghai embroidery, Shandong clay sculptures, and Longquan celadon. Consular General Chen remarked that seeing these cultural treasures from the motherland allows overseas Chinese to feel the profound nourishment and inspiration of Chinese culture and tradition. 
 
Guests exchanged New Year greetings at the reception, extending their best wishes for China’s prosperity and for the steady and enduring development of relations between China, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein.
