China established the Space Computing Professional Committee on April 3, the country's first industrial collaboration platform dedicated to promoting the coordinated development of the computing and aerospace industries.
Launched at the 2026 Space Computing Industry Conference held in Beijing the same day, the new committee integrates academicians, leading enterprises, research institutes and financial institutions into a unified industry-university-research cooperation platform.
Its key missions include conducting strategic research, tackling technological bottlenecks in fields like satellite-borne AI chips, inter-satellite laser communication, efficient thermal control and space-based solar power, working out industry standards, advancing application scenarios such as satellite agents, disaster emergency response, low-Earth orbit satellite internet and deep space exploration, as well as building a sound industrial ecology for space computing.
Extension and integration of ground computing, space computing is a strategic deployment for a global computing power network, experts said. It will help ease pressure on ground computing infrastructure and provide strong support for the application of AI technologies.
