Life Lessons Are Not My Bag

Sichuan International Studies University recently attracted attention with a series of classes that aim to teach the value of life. Through the use of different devices and equipment, the classes enable students to experience the pain of childbirth and living with disabilities. In one lesson, students experience death by crawling into body bags. While many students praised the classes as creative and impressive, some raised their doubts as to their effectiveness, pointing out the “body bags” used were actually sleeping bags for the living. Some on social media argued that a more effective way to learn about life is to work with people living with disabilities or care for those facing death, such as volunteering at a hospice.
