The school’s headmaster, Fu Jin, said the classes aimed to help students “better understand themselves.” Netizens accused the school of gender discrimination. “Give me a reason why girls cannot assemble models and boys cannot knit,” read a comment on Weibo. Following the news, China Women’s News, a newspaper under All-China Women’s Federation, responded with nine pictures of women working in rocketry with a caption that said these classes should be based on students’ interests rather than gender. The post has received over 5,000 likes and hundreds of supportive comments.
