The Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security has recognized 16 new professions, including industrial internet technicians, supply chain operation managers and online delivery workers in order to keep abreast with economic and social developments. It is the second time China has released a list of new occupations since April 2019. Alongside the rapid growth of new industries, growing demands for higher quality of life and consumption and China’s rapid transition from high-speed growth to high-quality development, many new types of jobs requiring new skills and credentials are expected to emerge. Schools, enterprises and the government have to brace themselves for new professions and the regular job list updates will stimulate employment, reform vocational education and training and create a healthy and sound job market.
