China’s State Council said it will focus on promoting high-quality employment by improving institutions and training during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025).
According to a document issued in late August, China will improve employment quality and ease the difficulties for university graduates and low-level technicians to find jobs and for enterprises to employ high-level technicians.
To realize the objective, the document proposed seven measures, including increasing job opportunities, enhancing innovation’s role in expanding employment, improving the support systems for key populations and strengthening employment guarantees and insurance, as well as increasing training for laborers.
Officials emphasized that the document focuses on long-term issues, such as the aging population and the influence of modern technologies such as AI on future work. It pledged to keep employment stable by 2025.
