The Chinese National Women’s Basketball Team jumped to second place in the latest ranking of the International Federation of Basketball published on October 10, five places higher than the last ranking.
The rise in rankings comes after the Chinese team unexpectedly placed second in the Women’s Basketball World Cup held in Australia from September 22 to October 1. The Chinese team beat the French and Australian teams in the knockout rounds to win a coveted spot in the final against rivals from Team USA for first time in 28 years.
Although the Chinese team was defeated by the No.1-ranked USA National Women’s Team, which won 83-61, their fans are delighted with the tremendous progress in women’s basketball and the team’s persistence.
