A 12-year-old boy in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region is in police custody after he allegedly killed a six-year-old girl by striking her in the head with a plank because he feared she would complain to his parents after a nasty fall. The boy, surnamed Su, told Yongning County police he was playing with the girl and another boy on July 13 when she fell off a wooden stand. The girl hit her head on the ground, knocking her unconscious. Fearing the girl would tell his parents about the accident, the boy took a wooden plank and purposefully struck her head, police said following an initial investigation. The shocking story prompted questions from netizens. Some were bewildered as to why Su would rather kill someone than admit a small mistake, while others blamed Su’s upbringing, suggesting that Su must often face severe punishment for trivial matters, while never being taught about the value of life.
