A teen traveled 800 kilometers from his hometown of Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province to Qingdao, Shandong Province by only taking city buses. The unusual five-day odyssey involved over 40 transfers and cost 200 yuan (US$30). Along the way, the youngster surnamed Yu stopped in Nanjing, Yangzhou and Lianyugang in Jiangsu and Rizhao, Shandong before reaching Qingdao. A twist came on the fourth day of Yu’s relatively smooth trip when he took the wrong route, which dropped him six kilometers from the next stop and made him almost miss the last bus to Rizhao. Fortunately, he got a lift from a local villager and made it in time. The following day, he took another bus to the city’s border and reached Qingdao’s city limits, where he hopped on a bus that took him downtown, capping his five-day journey.
