A three-year action plan to promote employment for people with disabilities was approved by the General Office of the State Council. According to the circular released on April 8, more than one million new jobs will be created between 2022 and 2024 in urban and rural areas.

To attain the goal, public institutions, State-owned enterprises and the private sector will roll out favorable employment actions targeting the group. Rural disabled people, disabled college students and blind massage workers will be entitled to assistance measures in employment.

The document also calls for more support for vocational training bases as well as vocational high schools and colleges, and to improve vocational skills for the disabled to boost employment. According to the China Disabled Persons’ Federation, China registered 85 million people with disabilities in its 2010 national census. Official statistics showed that 8.62 million people with disabilities in China secured jobs in 2020, up from 8.55 million the previous year.
